Gilles Simon advanced to his ATP World Tour Masters 1000 semi-final in almost two years on Friday at the Shanghai Rolex Masters.
Simon knocked out sixth seed Tomas Berdych 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-0 in just under two-and-a-half hours. He will next meet Mikhail Youzhny or Feliciano Lopez.
