Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic have clinched a doubles team spot at the 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, to be held at The O2 in London from 9-16 November, where they will join No. 1-ranked Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan.
Nestor and Zimonjic will attempt to capture their third team trophy at the season finale, following their fourth qualification overall. The Canadian-Serbian tandem, who reunited at the start of the 2014 ATP World Tour season, picked up the title in 2008 (d. Bryans), when the event was held in Shanghai, and also in 2010 (d. Bhupathi-Mirnyi) in London prior to ending their doubles partnership.
Reuniting this year, Nestor and Zimonjic got off to a fine start when they won the Apia Sydney International in January (d. Bopanna-Qureshi). They also captured back-to-back ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crowns in May at the Mutua Madrid Open (d. Bryans) and the Internazionali BNL d’Italia (d. Haase-Lopez). The duo finished runner-up at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships (l. to Bopanna-Qureshi) and the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell (l. to Huta Galung-Robert).
The 42-year-old Nestor first qualified for the season finale in 1995 and he will be competing for the 15th time overall. He also partnered Mark Knowles to the 2006 crown (d. Aspelin-Knowle) and Max Mirnyi in 2011 (d. Fyrstenberg-Matkowski).
The 38-year-old Zimonjic has qualified on six previous occasions (2005-06, 2008-11). He also partnered Leander Paes to the 2005 title (d. Llodra-Santoro).
Six doubles spots remain up for grabs at the 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
